Waste Treatment (Incineration) Plant Refractory Repairs

Waste Treatment (Incineration) Plant Refractory Repairs

Alberta, Canada

A Canadian waste treatment centre (incineration) completed a total Rotary Kiln refractory reline, a total reline of the Secondary Combustion Chamber, and refractory repairs in their Spray Dryer. REBL was contracted to provide third party refractory inspection, consulting, and quality assurance (QA) for the project.

Upon arrival on site, REBL coverage started with an initial inspection and report to document the existing as-found condition prior to demolition. REBL monitored the refractory installation from start through to completion, with a final walk through with the owner at the end of the project.

Throughout the project, REBL provided daily Refractory Status Reports which included sections on progress activities, quality assurance, and technical items. REBL also provided weekly Refractory Inspection Reports which included the week’s detailed inspection activities and observations, progress status, required action items, perceived schedule or activities for the next week, and photos of the week’s different installations. Per client request, REBL also provided a refractory engineer for refractory technical support throughout the project, which included on-call consulting, and review of the refractory design, materials, and ITPs.
