SRU Acid Gas Burner, Reaction Furnace, and Heat Exchanger Design

REBL was hired by a major Canadian engineering firm to provide refractory engineering and consulting services for the review and approval of the refractory lining system design for an SRU reaction furnace, including the acid gas burner and connection to the waste heat exchanger.

Due to the various components involved in the system, the refractory was designed and supplied by many vendors and OEMs. REBL reviewed all drawings and calculations, ensuring compatibility, soundness of design, and compliance with API standards, end-user design parameters, and industry best practise. REBL also provided heat transfer modelling, and document/drawing authentication and validation, in compliance with APEGA regulations.
